this is me watching the DETROIT PISTONS WIN THE NBA FINALS!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!! in our hotel room in virginia beach. the bed im on was so comfortable. you kinda sink into it. it isn't the kind of bed i'd like to sleep on every night, but it's fun once in a while. the black thing on the left side of the picture is my bag. im not used to sleeping on such a big bed, so i stay on one side and leave my things on the other side. the blue hawaiian print thing is my boxers. they're just so comfortable, unbelievable.....but you didn't have to know that. anyway, we're not there anymore, we're in austin now.

there is a swan in our hotel lobby here in austin.

it really is very graceful and beautiful, and i understand why it has come to represent that in mythology and fables.


but i feel really sorry for it. it's stuck in such a small pool, and all it does is swim, sleep (still gracefully, though. it tucks its beak into the feathers on its back), and grub around the water for food. i remember, the first time i saw it, thinking, "i wonder if this swan ever wants more to life? is it content with just swimming around that little pool? doesn't it know that there's a much bigger world out there?"


so the poor thing does the same thing day in and day out. it swims, eats, sleeps, and provides temptation to would-be swan-feeders and coin-throwers.

it's such a waste really. such a beautiful creature with no purpose. and i guess that's what God feels on a greater extent with us, when we, the pinnacle of His creation, live lives without purpose, content with just existing and going through the motions of day to day activities without an idea of His greater plan for us. oh well....

wow, that suddenly got serious. hehe.
